2011 Already!

February 4, 2011

After spending the holidays in Corvallis, we headed up to Seattle for Lanie & JP’s wedding on New Year’s.  It was perfect! So fun to see everyone, but as always, just wasn’t enough time.  Des almost stole the show from JP in his tux.  Enjoy!

Here are some shots of our day at Highline Park with Grandad and mom mom.  As you can see Des loved the grasses.  I want to go back now!

Thanksgiving in New York

January 9, 2011

We had a great time in New York for Thanksgiving visiting John, Shannon and Luke.  Des did great on the flight over, again, and was a napping and sleeping champ for the most part.  We’ll post some separate pictures from our day at Central Part and the Highline, but here are a few highlights of the trip:

  • Spent a great day with my Dad and Mindy, complete with a tour of The Highline, a walk through the meatpacking district and a great French meal.  Des was charming as ever, and loved walking everywhere.  Pics to come- they are fantastic!
  • Walks through Union Square with John, Shannon and Luke– checking out all that was going on, and making a trip to B&N for a new Elmo DVD.  Luke couldn’t have been more excited.
  • Sifting through what seemed like 50+ menus to decide what to order in for dinner.  You can seriously get anything delivered, it is amazing, and I am quite jealous.
  • Attempting to avoid Macy’s Day Parade crowds by checking out the balloons being blown up the night before.  Bad idea. It was packed, and they corral you like cattle.  And, of course, Des slept the whole time in the stroller.  We made it out alive!
  • Seeing a huge crowd of teen girls going crazy for Justin Beiber.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art with Jason & Des.  Des ate crackers as we moved from room to room looking at some amazing art.  When he got a bit fussy Jason took him out and pointed to the birds and dogs in all of 300+ year old paintings. It was classic, and one of my favorite moments.
  • Cab rides.  We were a little nervous, but it seems as though everyone with kids just hops in cabs with them on your lap.  Not the safest, but Des loved it!  He could see all the signs and point out the dogs on the streets.  Luckily you can’t go much faster than 5 mph in the city.
  • Shopping for Whole Foods Thanksgiving with Shannon.  You think it would be easier than choosing what to cook but it isn’t!  So many options!  It was pretty darn good though, just not quite as good as when it comes from your own kitchen.
  • Central Park playgrounds.  We hit up at least three, and Des was a happy camper.
  • A great date night at Gramercy Tavern.  Yum.

There are many others I a sure I am forgetting as well.  More pics of the trip soon!

More cake

January 6, 2011

On our way to New York for Thanksgiving, we got to stop in Seattle for a night.  Lacey, Des’s Godmother, was nice enough to get him another cupcake, which he devoured just as he did the first.  I think he has this father’s sweet tooth!

We are alive!

January 4, 2011

So sorry for the lack of posts– we’ve been a little busy!  We’ll post a lot this week though, so keep coming back.  First, a much delayed look at Des’s birthday party.  It was a total blast, and Des devoured his cupcake like a champ.  We did a joint party with two of Des’s best friends, Penelope and Sam. Enjoy!

Old photos! Pumpkin Patch!

December 6, 2010

We’ve been delinquent on the updates, so expect a few posts over the next couple weeks.  But first, the pumpkin patch!  We took Des to the pumpkin patch with a group of PEP families and let the kids toddle around in their Halloween costumes.  Very cute and here are the photos to prove it.

Hawaii– a month later

October 27, 2010

Finally!  Some great pics from Hawaii.  While it wasn’t the most relaxing vacation, it was a ton of fun.  While I usually get through a few books by the pool, this trip I was happy to get through a few magazines.  It did manage to be relaxing however, somehow.

Des was a water baby to say the least splashing around and loving every minute– aside from his bee sting of course.  We got to hang out with Aunt Kristin and Uncle Joe,  Lesa, Zach and Baby Bennet and of course LeAnne and Lorri.   The place was amazing from the lazy river to the nearly private pool, we were living the life!  We’ll hopefully be back someday as it was pretty perfect for kids.
